E BART and BART are to use the same platform at Bay Point, so there will be some three rail trackage. The hard part will be to move the double crossover to the west side of the station, which are super elevated curves. The line was supposed to get out of the freeway at the Camp Parks spur and follow that to the SP line. BART could never come to an agreement with UP and every town they went through wanted grade separations and parking structures, which blew the budget. So BART decided to just stay in the middle of the Freeway, which was being rebuilt anyway, and just build as far as the money would go. It was a mistake not to go with BART gauge, so conversion to full BART would be easy. I believe the neighbors are going to get tired of the DMU cars real fast.
