I decided to check out your "not dated" comment. I could see date information in some browsers, but not in others. So what you (or anyone) sees seems to depend on what browser you're using, what version of Google Maps (Classic or New) you're using, and perhaps what plugins and settings you're using. Experiment. Browsers are not all the same. It may turn out that the browser you prefer for Google Maps may not be the one you like for general browsing. It's like having different tools in your toolbox.
