Just shows to go ya. HSR is judged in the media by how much circus it provides not how much transportation benefit.
Anything as big and expensive as HSR, however it's funded, will have opposition by those affected but not provided with direct benefit. The question is whether public benefit exists - and according to normal common carrier rules there has to be some which the Texas crowd has demonstrated to some regulator's satisfaction otherwise eminent domain would not be allowed. No new news here ... carry on.
