An SP freight was deliberately derailed (rail moved outward, jumper wire for the signals) in the early 1960s west of Suisun. Culprits never found, but it was believed related to the oil refinery in Benicia being on strike, with SP officials switching the plant.

Actually, I think the idea of the original post was to ask about trains deliberately wrecked by the crew onboard. I've heard of the Monon wreck mentioned above, although I don't think it's ever been established what was going through the engineer's mind.
