I waited at the Joso bridge this afternoon for the special to arrive. Finally overheard the dispatcher telling the BNSF low line local that the lead unit (a UP unit) had caught on fire. Not sure where this was but it was north of Hinkle and south of Ayer. It is on the move again. I was told that it was supposed to leave Trentwood at 0700 Wednesday.

I also heard the DS tell a southbound freight that the special needed to go into the siding at Marengo to let off a passenger. I hope someone is waiting for the passenger since it will be after dark before they arrive in Marengo.
