This is the disinformation BS at work and play:

>When the wildflower trains ran, this track was first class track with a 15 mph speed limit [the term is "class 1 track"]. The Board of Directors decided to spend only enough money to make emergency repairs but not enough to rebuild this track. When the track superintendent told the Board that he could not guarantee that the train would not derail, the Board decided to stop passenger trains.

Many of the members who ran the trains did a lot of the trackwork when your "track superintendent" refused outright to do the work. Then he got all bent out of shape when they took it upon themselves to do it. This is telling because that's how this very "track superintendent" insinuated himself into the job: by doing what he felt like in spite of the programs and policies of the previous track superintendent. Those prairie train people were only following his example, yet he had a cow of major proportions.

>The story spread by museum train enthusiasts that the wildflower trains made money for the museum is NOT true. A rigorous accounting will show that the wildflower trains barely broke even because many costs, like track repair and coach restoration, were not charged to the trains. The money came out of other budgets"

More disinformation, and I have the figures to prove it, which can be backed up by the Museum's treasurer of that era, and the former superintendent of the Prarie train operations (not that anyone really want's to see them).

There were also a lot of charges against the trains, like diesel fuel, which were not consistently made made against the electrics (their electric bill). In other words, the deck was stacked, and you were one of the stackees.
