Today two trains of the Simpson Railroad, in Shelton WA, ran to Mill 5 at Dayton, to pull all the remaining rolling stock back down to Shelton. The line hasn't been used in a couple of years, and today's runs should be the last. Mill 3 in Shelton closes tomorrow (for the most part), with finished lumber being trucked down to the railroad from Mill 5, to the end of the month. The railroad will continue switch loads to the PSAP, until Mill 5 is done.
Sad times in Shelton, and great loss for the railroad community as well.
I had one last chance today to get a shot I've seen before, but never quite made it to the spot. So I gambled that I might be faster than the train. I think I won. Here's my favorite shot of the day.
