The article that was linked to specifically states that Asa had no connection to Simpson Lumber based in Washington.

Simpson Lumber, shortly to become Simpson Door, will retain the railroad (at minimum the right of way). The annoucement states they will re-purpouse it. Not sure what that means, but the apparently won't have any locomotives, they're going to Sierra Pacific.
