Thought you Bay Area guys might find this interesting. Extracted from internal memo from the Intermodal Business Unit (IBU):
"In line with consideration of 1998 Powder River Resource Realignment and Compensation Plan, (PRRR&C), we propose closure documents for Surface Tansportation Board (STB) and California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) not later than 01 September 2015 to ensure readiness for operational review planned for 1Q 2016 in support of Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR), Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) and Amtrak (NRPC) proposed traffic sharing plan at North Bay, California.
In the interest of expediency, please accept this office's recommendation that the PRRR&C plan be included as subordinate support for the proposed traffic sharing plan, without draft changes. Plan is commonly referred to as 'Rheem Transfer' between BNSF and UPRR at United Parcel Service's North Bay operation.
Your office should already have copy of Amtrak Plan for same location. If you do not, please contact California Department of Transportation, Sacramento Office, San Joaquin Corridor Commission, (name removed)... "
I had heard the UP was going to deal with BN regarding UPS, but this was the first time I had seen anything in writing. The east end of Rheem siding now has the dual control CTC switch completely cut in, with signals wired. There's a Form C still in effect, but cutover is suppose to happen by the end of the month. Wish I knew when the first train to roll through the new cut-off will be, but no one I have talked to seems to know for sure. It was originally planned just so the UP can limit the miles BNSF runs their Oakland trains on the Cal-P.
