I visited the East end of Rheem the other day and saw the transfer. Looks like high speed switches have been put in place for Amtrak use. I had heard that Amtrak was going back into the small parcel carring business and was in talks with Amazon and UPS. This could be quite interesting to have a cabbage car full of packages for the central valley. The other rumor is the Amtrak is planning to do away with the Merced crew base. With PTC being used on all BNSF trains through the valley it won't belong that all CRDX units will be equiped with this technology. I guess the Amtrak crews will go on duty at Emeryville make a quick stop at North Bay and head east to Bakersfield.
