There was a temporary connection between the AT&SF main line to the SP through what is now the the automobile junk yard, but there never has been a connection between North Bay and the Cal-P. This new connection is for double stack trains from the Santa Fe use the Cal-P between the AT&SF and the (new) JIT at West Oakland. Keep your eyes peeled for upgrading the water side drill and a corporate hue and cry for CCJPA etc. funding to do so.
