Detector wheel transducers or processor units do sometimes miss a wheel every now and again throwing an odd number out on the axle count. It does happen, but very infrequently. Obviously if it happens again with the same crew on a different train if no other report was made, they should call it in and have maintenance done to the detector. Not too sure if that is an incident that would require the crew to report immediately to the dispatcher.
