As a retired Police Officer let me make a few points to the COMMUTER. The Accident investigation was actually a murder investigation and naught as one astute writer mentioned a death on the tracks. Evidence must be collected in a manor that would allow the Prosecutor to seek serious felony charges. If we were only worried about a yuppie puke getting home we would simple send in a wrecker and take a statement. But no we need measurements and an aerial photo of both the actual crash scene and the end scene, we need to document every cctv camera we see and photograph them, We need witness statements, which most don't want to get involved or they do get involved but a year and half later when the trial comes they can't be found so that statement is worthless.You were not delayed out of a love of overtime but because idiots who become jurors demand CSI level investigations as they have seen on TV. So god forbid you were delayed. Some cop had to look at a dead kid and then perform in professional manor.ESAD
