I-5 corridor observations

This past week I traveled I-5 from Portland to Mt Shasta and thought I'd share my railside observations:
Portland-Union Pacific Graham Line/East Portland Jct wye project: As I traversed the I-84/I-5 interchange I caught a glimpse of a full compliment of Union Pacific track construction crews and equipment working beneath the Grand Ave. and MLK Blvd bridges. It appeared that the rails were now aligned on a new segment constructed north of the original alignment. I couldn't see very well from my vantage point but figured the track work being done was installation of turnout and rail for the south leg of the wye.
Portland-MAX Orange Line: I paused in my travels to take a round trip ride on the new Orange Line between downtown and Milwaukee including the Tilikum Crossing over the Willamette River. I hopped off at OMSI station on the return and saw Shortline Sammy's tourist train traversing the Orange Line diamonds. This is quite a hot spot of rail activity for the railfan community. You are able to see Max Light Rail, Portland Trolley, Oregon Pacific Railroad, Oregon Rail Heritage Center and in the background, Union Pacific's main between East Portland and Brooklyn Yard. By the way, is there an official name for the OPR/Max diamond crossing?
Winchester-CORP (Genesee & Wyoming): Rail traffic must be doing pretty well these days in this neck of the woods as I have never seen this many freight cars in the Winchester yard since I have been traveling through here over the past few years. There were 4 locomotives painted in the G&W color scheme parked near the I-5 end of the yard.
Yreka-Yreka Western: Looking rather abandoned; one heavy weight passenger car adjacent to the depot in a derelict paint scheme....not a good "Welcome to Yreka" symbol adjacent to an interstate highway...keep on driving, scenic Mt. Shasta is just a few miles down the road.
Weed-CORP (Genesee & Wyoming): Tie and ballast machines parked on the main west of I-5 overpass. Is this a sign of return of service between Ashland and Weed? We shall see.
