The only thing I am serious about is my sarcasm. If they blame the operators, they are union so they might get an unpaid vacation for a little while at worse. Assuming it is a manager - when is the last time you heard a government employee was actually held responsible for making competent decisions? I doubt they will get fired - strongly worded letter, or better yet promoted to the safety or diversity departments; if all else fails they can go out on a disability for stress until they get bought out (sarcasm implied).

They aren't a railroad, so GCOR does not apply nor does FRA have oversight. There is a federal transit agency (not sure their jurisdiction over safety/operations) and ODOT-Rail Division.

I see it has now appeared on a national news channel. I am amazed that the traction motors didn't ground out. They must be some kind of sealed unit? I don't thing the full extent of the damage will become evident for a while. I did hear something about them running the full schedule but with one car trains that are jammed to capacity because of the cars out of service trying to be dried out.
