The options and promises made as recently as 2012, to Sou Cal politicians by these incompetent fools at CHSRA are completely unrealistic, especially with the recent concessions to certain incompetent local factions, that would require 30 plus miles of tunnels minimum, just to Palmdale. These unrealistic and dubious promises have made any rail connection via any possible route, to anywhere even near LA (Burbank/Bob Hope Airport????, absolutely unaffordable.

And, since many, involved early on in this scam, were looking at developing a direct West Valley to San Jose connection to promote supposedly "wired" real estate interests favoring this route over the more obvious demand which could be better served via Altamont, this change should not really be an unexpected outcome, should it?

If I had $10 billion of your taxpayer dollars to do something to move folks by rail in CA with, other than to waste it on this bloated, mismanaged, incompetent fiasco, we'd be testing the new maximum 200 kph. locomotive speed rating on segments between Tustin and Oceanside, about 32 times a day.........
