Re: More proof of failed rail advocacy in CA?

I finally got to read the whole article today in the Times, before lining the cat box with it. Nothing new really, except the final usual quotes from Dyson, at RailPAC, proving once again, why CA's rail advocacy groups really aren't very effective.
Despite good ideas, good intentions, and some good people supporting them, both RailPAC and TRAC appear to be always hostages to a few dominant personalities, who seem utterly unable to articulate an effective alternative rail passenger strategy, and who's personalities seem to make it impossible to build effective political alliances to support such an alternative. And thus, these organizations end up having almost no real influence on these decisions.
And, that's too bad, because CA has a huge potential market for effective, efficient, affordable rail passenger services, which could improve access and mobility in many of our horribly congested intercity and interurban freeway corridors. It's a shame that we seem to lack the kind leadership qualities with the capacity and/or vision to be able to make that happen. It's what the public wants, it's what a majority probably thought they had voted for, it's definitely not what they are getting with the CHSRA fiasco.
