This is by far the most concise, to-the-point history lesson on CHSRA that I have seen yet. I consider myself a railfan and I love to see meaningful projects to improve transportation using rail infrastructure. I have tried to see some positive aspect to CHSR ever since it got started, but could not. I worked as a transportation engineer for 11 years and always felt that a statewide public transportation system administratively belonged under Caltrans, not some other newly-created government bureaucracy specially formed to serve narrow political interests. Wrong again (what do I know). Your summary really drives home the reality of CHSR being nothing more than a political scheme to consume tax dollars and benefit a few at the expense of many. It seems to be a Brown thing, to take from northern California and give to southern California. Pat had his State Water Project, and Jerry wants to make his mark with CHSR and the infamous Delta Tunnels.
