SPI Arcata was somewhat hurt by the lack of rail transport but the mill has limped along on the
lowest cost maintenance possible. The big issue here is that the site cleanup costs here would make
one dizzy! The site is oil soaked many feet deep and right on the edge of the wonderous Arcata
swamp, oops, marsh. Those of us who've done business with this mill always thought that Redd and
George kept thing open just to avoid the cleanup, we'll see what happens next.
