If Redwood National Park had not been expanded in 1979, Arcata Redwood would have had about 4 years of old growth left. Simpson and LP were pretty much on old second growth by then. Pacific Lumber had yet to be mowed flat and deflated by Chuck Herwitz and his Texas crowd. Robin Arkley's father was still running his Blue Lake Forest Products Mill at Glendale cutting only Doug fir much like SPI.
