Disgusted's post intimates that the truck driver is an alien.
I looked for that in the news at the time and found only the he resided in Arizona.
True, I recall the surname was in the same category as some aliens, but, even as politically incorrect as I strive to be I did not ASSUME.
As to the timing of this, I agree it is highly suspect/incompetent.
ANd as to the citizenship remark, it is fairly common for peope who have family outside the US to flee quickly. My 'favorite' example is the person described a ' a citizen of Mexico' who got bail on a charge of beating the crap out of his girlfriend's daughter = still paralyzed after being airlifted 150 miles for special hospital care.
The judge who granted bail is a fool, the bail bondsman deserves to lose all, and a lot more.
If the VCDA let the Oxnard driver do likewise, he too is an idiot
