The court ruling said nothing of the sort; in fact the court ruling openly acknowledged other transit systems that had zero affiliation with NCL were also eliminating trolleys/streetcars/trams, and there was no conspiracy involved there.
The court ruling, United States v. National City Lines Inc., was found guilty of a mere one count of conspiracy to monopolize the sale of buses manufactured by General Motors to its subsidiaries, putting several bus manufacturers (i.e. Kenworth, Mack) out of business. GM was forced as a result to providing significant support to Flxible for many years afterwards to ensure some kind of competition in the bus market.
Somehow, monopolizing the sale of GM buses got turned into "conspiring to eliminate rail transit" by a group of people who desire to re-write history to push a specific agenda.
