“The trucking industry is searching for people who can be exploited through measly wages to the same degree that an ever expanding list of American industries are finding ways to exploit their workers by way of piss-poor wages. Fresh-off-the-boat immigrants fit the bill quite nicely. They'll never admit it, of course, but there would be no shortage of drivers if the trucking industry paid livable wages.” says Justin Lowery, who studies the role of immigrants in US trucking at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
