We've had those gas taxes for decades... they just get used for something other than transportation. Imposing additional taxes on the American consumer won't reduce demand by emerging economies heavily subsidized by their governments.

Why not allow domestic drilling to reduce pressure on global demand, and use the existing taxes where they were meant to be used?

Asking others to produce more oil while we refuse to dirty up our own pretty land is ludicrous. Then we have the nerve to resent their pricing?
