Yes dollars is all it takes… but why spend more to rebuild an antiquated design when a newer more modern design would cost less? Those hard earned dollars are increasingly in short supply especially for a preservation origination. So why not get the most economical use out of those scarce dollars?
Oh you want to say it won’t be original then? Well let me ask you this, did the railroads concern themselves with keeping locomotives all original, or did they replace parts as needed with more economical alternatives?
