Why do you need to cite an aircraft restoration when there are a number of good heritage rail operations? Somewhat comparing apples and oranges.

A place which does a great job of preservation and restoration is the Lake Superior Railroad Museum in Duluth, MN and its operating affiliate, the North Shore Scenic Railroad. Another one is the New York City Transit Museum which runs vintage subways on the existing New York City subway. A third is the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.
