Actually if you look at the stats again, timber production in Humboldt County rose from 3.7 Million feet in 1996 to 386 Million in 1999 and remained in the same ballpark through 2005. According to your logic in quoting these numbers, it appears that the railroad stopping operations was one of the best things that ever happened to the Timber industry in Humboldt County.
Actually I think that 1996-7 on this chart could be typos as I don't know that timber production has been that low. It does continue to amaze me what the pro-NCRA/NWP people come up with to attempt to justify the "Black Hole"
