I saw a report last year that the percentage of coal generated power that California either generates or imports from other states is today about 9% (it was 40 to 60% back in 2000)
I don't think they would be foolish enough to get rid of the last bit of coal power with the on going drought (hydroelectric power down) and one nuke plant shut down and another going away.
There are also limits on Gas fired power due to the big gas storage site in the San Fernando Valley not at full capacity (due to the big leak they had last year)
And wind and solar are not 100% reliable.....
But this is California.
