Mook, you're completely wrong about liquor laws. They apply just the same on this choo-choo line, and so does the liability that comes with alcohol service.
I too would love to drink wine or beer on the train.... But then, I don't tend to be a $#it faced drunkard, when I imbibe. And, I don't have to clean the bathrooms, either.
I just wouldn't want my public transit agency clients, or their beleaguered taxpayers, to be held liable and pay out big settlements for the damage the drunks will almost certainly do, the lawsuits that will come when some fool spills his coffee on a "moving" train, or the clean up bills, damage, and complaints, when the bathrooms look like $#it, from a bunch of drunks pissing all over them....
I also know that the women passengers just love it when these drunks decide to "mark turf" in these public bathrooms, like dogs, right?
And, believe me that's already a bit of a problem, just from the drunkard's showing up at the train (or bus....) already pretty drunk, and getting on....
So limiting drinks is only a partial solution to those problems.
And, I can't wait for the lawsuits for when you cut the drunk off, and he flies into a rage about it, and injures staff or other passengers.
But, maybe that's just the my many years of experience with these kind of things managing to go terribly wrong?
It's almost time for my noon beer, so don't get me wrong, I may even do a John Boehner, and have it before noon today.... Right now, as a matter of fact.....
But, I still wouldn't recommend taking this risk to a transit agency client, or the taxpayers, who will be on the hook for the costs.
