Technical correct, the Streetcar doesn't go to Gateway TC or anywhere near it. The connection at the Gateway TC is with MAX.

That said, in Seattle the connection between Light Rail and many busses (at least those that use the tunnel) is as simple as "get off, wait, get on". Making transfers in Portland isn't exactly simple, and many MAX stations **DO** require a flight of stairs - any stop between Lloyd Center and Gateway TC, or at Sunset TC. Other transit centers in Portland require one to play "chicken!" with busses because of a lack of safe crossings, and wait outside in the rain because of undersized bus shelters.

The bus stop at 82nd Avenue is another good example - if you are travelling (IIRC) northbound, you get to climb upstairs from the MAX platform, and then try to cross 82nd Avenue - all five lanes of it. There's only one stairway and one elevator - which has actually been called a security hazard because of the criminal element in that area.
