Here is political columnist for the Marin paper weighing in on this Sonoma issue. I guess SMART has really joined Sonoma and Marin together over issues that affect both counties. Like traffic on 101.
Spotswood says SMART is doomed in its effort to regulate LPG car storage at Schellville. But the STB signalled it was not a cut and dry case and further briefing by the parties involved is neccessary to suss out the considerable legal issues raised. Spotswood's argument is the interstate commerce one, and the fact that the Feds regulate this kind of traffic and that preempts owners of the railroad from trying to regulate. So I don't this really is all that instructive. Spotswood has some excellent columns but like everyone he has off days.
