What many corporations and stockholders are worried about is the rise in the dollar. This raises the cost of exports and makes them less competitive in the world market. But this is a cyclical thing. The Euro started out at $1.17 and has swung between $0.85 and $1.40. Today it is about $1.11 all these many years later.

The pound has taken a real hit because Brexit is considered to be a protectionist move and will hit the London trading market hard. The loosening of international trade has hit between five and ten million American workers. It has also raised about 1.1 billion people world wide out of poverty. It is not a one-way street for sure.
