Scrapping of McCloud Railway to begin on Monday?

Southwest Railcar is running a speeder excursion this weekend over the McCloud Railway. A statement on the website indicates that "Salvage personel will begin track and tie removal between McCloud and Burney at the rate of 2 1/2 miles per day starting July 14th".
While I hadn't seen anything posted here recently about the McCloud, it doesn't surprise me that the end has finally come. It's pretty hard to justify paying property taxes on a dormant rail line when the blast furnaces have such an appetite for high priced scrap.
This leaves only the line from McCloud to Mt. Shasta which is used by the dinner train remaining from what was a much larger operation. I assume that A&K is the "culprit"; however that is just an assumption.
Kelly and I will be hiraiing with the SWRC group this weekend for one last look.
