A new railroad the Nevada Central is letting the bids for construction of a new rail system in Nevada to connect Jean to Tonopah to Reno with a branch to Ely. Calling it the NCR ByPass (TM), it will compete with UP and BNSF for mineral traffic from new mines opening soon in Nye County, and will haul nuke waste to Yucca Mountain. Future plans include rebuilding the OSL between Wells and Twin Falls, and purchasing the Tennessee Pass line from the Union Pacific. The Colorado Division would be accessed by building a new line across central Utah along an old D&RG alignment.
