Jeff, hate to be argumentative, but I found my photos which confirms ONE coach went down the canyon. The other coach had already been placed beside the ballpark across the park entrance from 1727. As I remembered, the car was not badly damaged in the wreck and was put back on its own trucks. The brake cylinder was damaged though, so no brakes. I have a photo of it on the tail end of a train being hauled back to the Dunsmuir Yards. I don't know how to post pics here, but I did scan them in so they are now on my computer.
Looking for these pics was a walk down memory lane; the Transcontinental Freedom train excursion coming into Dunsmuir, the pics I took riding from Dunsmuir to K. Falls--the one around Cantera Loop is amazing, I doubt anyone would believe the photo was taken from the same train the engine is pulling (it's across the river and going the opposite direction); trips on the McCloud, California Western behind #46, etc. etc. Oh did I look YOUNG back then (so did Linda)!
