The only reason I've kept the discussion board alive is there seems to be a desire by some to see it stay alive and functional.
Censoring and moderating is not my cup of tea. I don't have the time, desire, or energy for it on a daily basis. I only delete stuff when it gets badly out of control or appears to be heading in that direction. For example, when one of our favorite posters writes, "Obama has A ugly nose" those kinds of posts usually meet the delete key rather quickly.
In all honesty, this board can be a burden at times. It costs me money to keep alive, and there's no benefit I receive from it other than knowing some folks enjoy it.
The flame wars and trolling often happen at really inconvenient times. I think back to 2009 when I was driving across Wyoming and Nebraska in heavy snow/rain and cell reception was very poor. I was trying to outrun the snow on U.S. 30 when my father was trying to reach me by cell phone and I wasn't able to hold a call. I thought maybe there was a family emergency or something, so I ventured off route to find a phone. No family emergency, just a discussion board meltdown he thought I should know about.
I'm not asking you guys to be politically correct and sterile with every comment you post. Just put yourselves in my shoes before committing to the "Post Message" button. If it's likely to cause a war, and/or written to be nasty, rethink what you're doing. Please. That would help me very much.
