All good, and valid points.
I've actually seen a train on the Central Washington line start a fire several years ago.
Back when the Palouse River and Coulee City was operating the line, I stepped outside my house in Davenport to watch the train go by. All of a sudden, as the locomotives were passing, the dry track side weeds in my neighbor's backyard burst into flames. I yelled at my wife to call 911 and ran across the street to try to stop the fire before it got to their house. I grabbed their hose and dragged it toward the fire; twisting my knee. But I got the fire out before anything important burned.
I was still watering hot spots after the train had passed when the railroad's high rail truck with a water tank and pump in back trundled down the tracks following the train. They sprayed a little more water on the spots and threw me a thanks and were off on their way.
My knee required surgery to repair the torn cartilage. . . .
