When LAUS/LAUPT was built there were no run through trains, as was the case until the brief run through of some Coast Starlight cars to San Diego with the start of Amtrak. I don't know, but doubt there were ever run through sleepers (New Orleans - San Francisco seems most likely) unlike between east and west coast trains in Chicago.
