A walk through on why even five minutes matters, for the people who like to question the price of everything, but seem not to know the value of anything.......

It's only five minutes a five minute schedule savings on the Nisqually line.......

It's kind of like that ten minutes per train, for the LAUPT run through, times up to 300 movements per day by 2020........which is why the original run through study even looked at a public private partnership to finance it on a lease back with shared operating cost savings to ML and Amtrak/LOSSAN.

Same on the Nisqually investment.....

At five minutes per train each direction per day......

At over $450 per train hour of operating costs...... (an old figure I used several years ago on improvements to LA Palmdale Metrolink trains, probably more today...)

Times 12 times per day.....plus the costs of avoidable freight delays......

And, five minutes times 1/2 the net regional wage rate (NW is rich, possibly a $45 per hour range fully allocated...) time the value of all of the passengers time savings on the train.....

And, that is every day, over the 30 years of investment lifespan.......

It adds up......
