NP-GN connection at Adrian

I was working as a relief Telegrapher for the NP in Connell some during the summer of 1962. One day I rode with the branch local on the Connell northern branch run. That particular day we went all the way to Adrian to set out some interchange for the GN. The yard and connecting track was located north of the GN mainline and the NP bridge that crossed over it. Normally the NP local did not go north of Wheeler unless they had interchange traffic with the GN at Adrian.
I recall that the line from Connell north to Odell (just geographically east of Coulee City) was called the "Connell Northern" whereas the line from Cheney to Coulee City was called the "Central Washington (or CW)". The section from Adrian to Odell was out of service for many years before they finally abandoned it.
Now, a "what if" thought. If the rebuild of the MILW between Ellensburg and Lind were to go forward, one idea mentioned to me by a former GN/BN official, would be to rebuild the line between Wheeler and Adrian and connect with the former GN mainline there instead of connecting with the former NP at Lind. I am not going to name names here, but this idea made a lot of sense to me.
