Even if the road power went to 22nd St yard, wasn't the passenger train itself turned on the wye with a yard engine? There was a Santa Fe yard job at the depot that turned the passenger trains on the wye and did what little freight switching was left around the depot north to Morena. This came to an end when Amtrak went to cab cars. There used to be a small coach yard across from the depot.

A better question might be: where did SD&AE turn their passenger trains? San Diego was a "union station" so did Santa Fe's yard job take it to their wye or did SD&AE turn it at their own yard?
