You clearly have no idea of what it takes to keep an engine like 4449 viable. G&W has hundreds of miles of track in the NW, and has had a no steam policy for almost a decade. G&W approached the '49 group about this and wanted it kept under wraps. It was a tremendous opportunity to show G&W upper management the professionalism of the '49 crew and the benefits of allowing steam to run on their lines. It could open up a world of possibilities not only for 4449 but other engines. So how stupid of them would it have been to say "no, we won't run this charter for you because some crybabies will whine about not gettinga heads up, and we want to do it how WE want"? G&W would most likely never give a steam group the time of day again, and you'd have them risk that opportunity just so you could come snap a few pictures? That's just infantile and moronic and nobody who ACTUALLY supports them would think that.
And as for your comment about acting like they want public interest, they put the word out and 5,000+ people came down to ORHC for train day. Did you miss that or were you too busy whining about something else?
