Many years ago I rode the Pioneer when the coaches were Amfleet. The toilets in the cars quit working due to a couple with a young baby dropping disposable diapers into the toilets. Clogged the plumbing rather quickly, less than 12 hours out of Salt Lake City. The problem in that case was not crappy equipment, it was inconsiderate crappy passengers.

The solution the that problem, for me was to use the facilities in another car. As for the Air conditioning problems, back in the day, the railroads had problems then too.
