The new waterfront tunnel replacing the Highway 99 Viaduct in Seattle will be a toll tunnel, with many pundits predicting that few will pay, until they sit in gridlocked city streets for a few days. The Viaduct is the preferred route for the elite from West Seattle to drive to their .com jobs in South Lake Union. The Viaduct will be demolished once the tunnel opens, ( unless another earthquake eats it first ) leaving few options for car commuters. I predict much mayhem and knashing of teeth for a while.
