That 1943 date for the new stations that you're putting out there, may just be a tad bit off. So maybe, before telling Graham how stupid he is, you just might want to check that date again, because 1943 is not the date shown, from most sources that I've seen.
It was my understanding that the new depot was designed as part of a series of station upgrades for the Daylights, and that construction had started before the war, and that it was completed and opened, in the period after the war had begun, in 1942, not in 1943.
You see, there was also this real big war on back then which had started, and almost all "non essential" new or pending civilian construction projects, and all new or pending non war related public works projects, things like this, that had not already started, were put on hold "for the duration" by the OWP, in order to free up construction capacity and manpower to support the projects deemed to be "essential" to the war effort.
For those who are wondering what "war" BOB2 is talking about......You can look that up, too, if you're really clever..........
