>It was my understanding that the new depot was designed as part of a series of station upgrades for the Daylights, and that construction had started before the war, and that it was completed and opened, in the period after the war had begun, in 1942, not in 1943.

>You see, there was also this real big war on back then which had started, and almost all "non essential" new or pending civilian construction projects, and all new or pending non war related public works projects, things like this, that had not already started, were put on hold "for the duration" by the OWP, in order to free up construction capacity and manpower to support the projects deemed to be "essential" to the war effort.

>For those who are wondering what "war" BOB2 is talking about......You can look that up, too, if you're really clever.........

BOB2 is awfully sarcastic for someone who doesn't know what he is talking about.

To start with, I never really told Graham Buxton "how stupid he is"; I just stuck to the facts. I will leave it up to others to ascertain his intelligence.

As I stated previously, I got the 1943 date for construction of the second San Luis Obispo depot from SP depot authority Henry Bender. Here is what Bender writes (not yet published) about the San Luis Obispo depot:

"The depot built in 1943 is Mediterranean style, with a clay roof. It was the last depot built during the war, due to government restrictions on scarce materials and manpower. In January 1943, the construction company of Theodore Maino erected temporary offices and commenced work on the $50,000 structure at the corner of Santa Rosa Street and Railroad Avenue."

(I'll elaborate about SLO being "the last depot built during the war" in a later post)
