Everybody seems to have a wedgie over this, but GE isn't closing Erie, they're just moving locomotive production to Texas. I think this would be a consolidation. Are the Texas jobs all non-union? GE says they're negotiating with the union in Erie so I suspect the jobs in Texas are union too.
Too often posters here seem to think that a corporation's primary mission is to provide good paying jobs first. But, the primary mission is to provide a product or service at a competitive, market price. The 575 whose jobs are being moved could go with them, no? Why else would GE be negotiating with their union?
