John, I rechecked my sources you are right. Last day of operation was 3/30/55. I must have been thinking of the fan trip to McKittrick on 2/19/55.
The repair records and photos in my collection show 2914 in the Los Angelas area 1916/1922 time frame then being superheated at Bayshore, Ca on 9/30/24. Next entries are Portland 5/4/32 and Brookland 3/21/33. I have one photo by W. Monypeny from the A. Menke collection of 2914 at Portland dated 8/15/34.
I'am always looking for more information/photos on the 2914 if anyone can help.
