Who cares about the train haters? The train is built and running and the Larkspur extension is happening. Now we need to worry about SMART itself. There are reasons for concern.
SMART released a draft schedule in November of 2016 showing full half hour commute service and one midday train. Then time came for schedule testing. It was announced with a lot of fanfare. And only after they were testing the schedule did it become clear that SMART had neither the intention or ability to run the draft schedule due to lack of trainsets. Big problem not just because the huge 1.5 hour gap in trains. Even bigger problem is the fact SMART hid this from the public for a long time. It would be nice to know when SMART learned they couldn't run the "draft schedule" and why they didn't correct the draft schedule when they figured out it was totally unfeasible given equipment they had.
So fine, they hide things from us. That's fine. Now we just need to become much more skeptical and demand answers now and not rely on SMART to inform us.
The big question now needs to be whether SMART will be able to run a full commute schedule once they get the next delivery of trainsets and also whether they will be able to
