The "mothers" for SP's Tractive Effort Booster Units were GP40-2's 7940-7967. The sets were used in Oregon, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas, and briefly tested in California. No such thing as a "GP25." You may be confusing them with GP35's,

Slugs have traction motors, which receive their electricity from a "mother" unit or units.
